Faiz — A Born Socialist

Faiz Ahmed Faiz a poet, a thinker and a socialist. He was the prominent urdu poet after Ghalib and Iqbal.He was born in Kala Qadir(named as Faiz Nagr after his death) Tehsil of Narowal, and belongs to a secular religous family.His first islamic madarsa teacher was the shams ul ulama Maulvi Syed Mir Hasan(Also the teacher of Iqbal).
He received his early education from Scotch Mision School Sialkot, afterwords he went to Lahore to brought up his higher studies. He had a graduate in Arabics under the supervision of Shams ul Ulama.
After doing his MA in English and Arabic he was brought up as a lecturer in MAO College Amritsr. In that time his political activities with sajjad zaheer influenced him to become the member of communist party.
Faiz life after becoming member of Left wing was totally changed. His poetry of about romantiscm was totally changed in revoltionaly. His words are the speach of a common man, kisan and a mazdoor and a khalq.
He was a Marxist at his best. Knowing and learning the philosophical concepts and ideologies of Karl Marx he was very much inspired. He was also been arrested in accused of Rawapindi Conspiracy Case, a fake propaganda about the military and government leadership. But after attending four years in prison, his words and poetry was become easily available and on the
tongue of each every people of commune.

He had been self exile in the regime of Yahya khan and Zia ul haq. The revolutionary poems of Faiz such as Hum Dekhengy,Aj bazar mein, nisar mein teri galiyon mein, Bol, Mujhse pehli si muhabbat was totally a
conceptual ideology of common poor person in the indo-pak.

Altough his words are the legacy of each person after him. Faiz ahmed faiz was not a Mutinied, but his poetry revolves arounds a devoted human being, justice, peace and love.
For the love of common people, “Awaam and Insaniyat” he was awarded Lenin Peace Prize(after name of Vladmir Lenin) from the USSR(Soviet Union) in 1962.

Faiz wrote once:
Maqam Faiz Raah mein koi jacha he Nahi
Jo Koi-e-Yaar se nikle tou soi-e-daar chale

Today Marks his 36th Death Anniversary.
